Various Studies: Eschatology

Welcome to the study of Eschatology. If you are unfamiliar with the preterist view of eschatology these first five messages will give you a good introduction. "Preterist" means past in fulfillment. Preterists believe that all of Bible Prophecy has already been fulfilled in Christ and the on-going expansion of His Kingdom. If this view is new to you I would ask that you would openly and honestly look at what it is saying. Almost every book in the New Testament talks of a "soon" return of Jesus Christ and it is very hard to make 2,000 years "soon" by any hermeneutic. The major issue to me in all of this is the Inspiration of Scripture. Don't let tradition rob you of the precious truths which our Lord taught. I challenge you to be a Berean and daily search the Scripture to see if these things are so. I reccommend that you first read these five messages in the order which they appear.

Matthew 24 and 25 are the "heart" of New Testament prophecy. This is the Lord's teaching on the times of the end. Looking at this text through first century glasses gives us a whole new meaning of Jesus' words. Jesus is not talking to us (twentieth century Americans), but to His disciples (first century Jews). Things that were future (to them), at the time of the writing, are ancient history to us. This whole discourse is concerned with answering the disciple's questions concerning the end of the Jewish age (not world) and the parousia of Christ, both of which would be demonstrated by the destruction of Jerusalem and the Jewish temple. If you study through these messages I think they will answer just about all of your questions on the preterist view of eschatology.
